Ranchi, Jan 2: The New Year brings a major boost to Jharkhand’s infrastructure with the construction of over half a dozen new four-lane highways across the state. These projects, part of the Bharatmala Project and other government initiatives, are set to enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion, promising faster and smoother travel across the region. These roads are expected to improve the overall pace of development, reduce travel time, and foster stronger connections between Jharkhand and neighboring states.

One of the most anticipated projects is the four-lane road from Mirzachowki to Farakka on NH-80, spanning 42.71 kilometers, at a cost of Rs. 1,302.72 crore. This will improve connectivity with Bihar, West Bengal, and the northeastern states. Similarly, the Palma to Gumla stretch on NH-23, costing Rs. 1,546.86 crore, is expected to significantly enhance transportation in the region. Another crucial project is the four-lane road from Deoghar to Basukinath on NH-114A, which covers 45.16 kilometers with an investment of Rs. 1,444.94 crore. The road will include a 3.5-meter-wide lane specifically for Kanwariyas and pilgrims, making it more convenient for religious travelers.

The Mahagama to Hansdiha stretch on NH-133, which will cover 53.29 kilometers at a cost of Rs. 1,443.77 crore, is progressing at a fast pace and will improve connectivity between Godda and neighboring districts. In Jamshedpur, an elevated corridor is being constructed on NH-33, addressing the forest department’s concerns and pushing forward construction work. The Ranchi Cable Bridge Flyover, a 2.34 km bridge costing Rs. 337.50 crore, and the Ratu Road Flyover with a length of 3.76 km at Rs. 558 crore are also part of these urban development initiatives.

Additional projects such as the Khajuri to Vindhamganj stretch on NH-75, costing Rs. 1,232.38 crore, and the Jaina Mode to Gola four-lane under the Bharatmala Project will further streamline traffic across the state. The Pardih Kali Mandir to Baliguma corridor, part of the elevated four-lane under construction, is also a key development in the region.

“These new four-lane roads will not only ease traffic but also boost economic growth by connecting Jharkhand with neighboring states and facilitating easier access to important regions,” said a government official. With a focus on eco-friendly infrastructure, 50% of these roads are being built as greenfield projects, and the completion of these highways will mark a significant step toward faster development and greater connectivity in Jharkhand by 2025.
