Ranchi, Mar 17: The Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Department will appoint more than 800 teachers to teach in English medium model schools across the state. This initiative will be implemented in the financial year 2025-26 to strengthen the education system in these institutions.
Currently, model schools are operating in 89 blocks of Jharkhand, some of which have been upgraded to Chief Minister’s School of Excellence. These schools provide education from class 6 to 12, with English as the medium of instruction. At present, teachers in these institutions are working on an ad hoc and deputation basis, most of whom are graduate-trained and postgraduate-trained educators.
A team of 11 teachers is required for each high school and plus-two school. Based on this calculation, the state will appoint at least 800 teachers, with more appointments possible in schools with a higher number of students, ensuring subject-wise distribution.
In addition to teacher appointments, the government also plans to introduce hostel facilities in these model schools. Many students from different blocks and districts qualify for admission but do not enrol due to the lack of accommodation. The construction of hostels will address this issue, allowing students to stay and continue their education after securing admission.
With these initiatives, the Jharkhand government aims to enhance the quality of education, provide better learning environments and make English-medium education more accessible to students across the state.
