Jharkhand: Tensions rise in West Singhbhum’s Goilkera after two Odisha youths go missing, SP holds meeting with Manki Munda

Chaibasa: Tensions ran high in the Goilkera area of West Singhbhum district after two youths, Sheikh Shadjil and Sheikh Nazir, originally from Tetposi in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, went missing under mysterious circumstances. The district administration has launched an investigation, suspecting that the two may have been murdered on charges of bull theft, although this has yet to be confirmed.

The news of their disappearance has caused an atmosphere of fear and unrest in Goilkera, with locals reportedly afraid to visit their village due to the potential for further violence. In response to the rising tensions, the district administration has stepped up efforts to maintain law and order and prevent any further escalation.

On Wednesday night, a high-level meeting was convened at the Goilkera Block Office, chaired jointly by Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Chaudhary and Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Shekhar. The meeting included discussions with local leaders, including Manki Munda, Mukhiya, and other intellectuals from the region. The aim of the meeting was to ensure that the local population cooperates with law enforcement and remains calm amid the ongoing investigation.

During the meeting, SP Ashutosh Shekhar addressed the ongoing investigation into the missing youths. He confirmed that while there is some information about the incident, the bodies of the deceased have not yet been recovered. Additionally, the police have not located the Scorpio car believed to have been involved in the case. The authorities are working diligently to trace both the car and the missing youths, with efforts intensifying as the investigation progresses.

SP Shekhar also assured the local community that law enforcement is doing everything possible to maintain order. He appealed to the people of Goilkera to cooperate with the authorities and help maintain peace in the area.

The district administration has taken several measures to ensure public safety. Apart from the meeting with local leaders, the presence of key officials such as Deputy District Commissioner (DDC) Sandeep Kumar Meena, SDM Shruti Raj Lakshmi, SP Campaign Paras Rana, SDPO Nalin Kumar Marandi, and BDO Vivek Kumar was noted as an indication of the seriousness with which the authorities are handling the situation.

The investigation is still ongoing, with authorities working to confirm the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and suspected murder of Sheikh Shadjil and Sheikh Nazir.
