Jharkhand Sub-Registrar Baleshwar Patel Murdered in Ramgarh Land Dispute

Ramgarh (Jharkhand) (IANS): Baleshwar Patel, the Sub-Registrar of Jharkhand’s Giridih district, was stoned to death on Tuesday morning in Ramgarh district. Police officials said that a violent confrontation over a lingering land dispute triggered the murder, which has sent shockwaves through the local community and state administration.

The attack took place in Balsagara village under the jurisdiction of the Mandu police station.

Holiday Visit Ends in Tragedy

According to preliminary reports, Patel had returned to his ancestral village to observe Hul Diwas, a public holiday in Jharkhand.

Eyewitnesses state the sequence of events that led to the murder:

  • The Confrontation: On Tuesday morning, Patel visited the disputed plot of land, where he became embroiled in a heated argument with several individuals.
  • The Escalation: The verbal dispute rapidly turned violent. The attackers assaulted Patel with heavy stones, inflicting fatal injuries.
  • The Discovery: Local residents alerted the police immediately, but Patel had already succumbed to his injuries by the time a police team rushed to the spot.

Police Launch Manhunt

The Mandu police arrived at the crime scene shortly after the attack to gather forensic evidence. Officers have taken custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Detectives are currently questioning local residents to identify the suspects and reconstruct the exact sequence of events.

“We are probing all possible angles, though initial findings point directly to the land dispute,” a senior police official stated. “We will not draw final conclusions until the investigation is complete.”

Ramgarh police officials confirmed that multiple teams have launched coordinated raids across the region to track down and apprehend the killers. They expressed absolute confidence that they will solve the case and bring the culprits to justice shortly.

The brazen daylight murder of a gazetted officer has deeply unnerved the state’s administrative machinery.
