Ranchi (IANS): The Jharkhand government revised school timings across the state on Monday to protect students from severe heatwave conditions. Simultaneously, the Health Department issued a yellow alert, placing all districts on high alert as temperatures continue to soar.
New School Schedule Starting April 21
The School Education and Literacy Department ordered all government, government-aided, and private schools to shift to morning hours. The new schedule includes:

KG to Class 8: 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Classes 9 to 12: 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Staff Hours: Teachers and non-teaching staff must remain on campus until 1:00 p.m. to complete administrative duties.
Health Department and Disaster Management Response
Disaster Management and Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari instructed district administrations to ensure total preparedness for heat-related emergencies. The Health Department directed all hospitals, community health centers, and primary health centers to:

Stockpile adequate supplies of ORS, IV fluids, and essential medicines.

Maintain ambulance services on high alert.

Encourage citizens showing heatstroke symptoms to seek immediate medical attention.
Rising Temperatures and Meteorological Warning
The Meteorological Department predicts that temperatures in 10 districts will oscillate between 40°C and 44°C, with an additional rise of 3°C to 5°C expected soon.
On Sunday, Daltonganj recorded the state’s highest temperature at 43.9°C, while Ranchi reached 39°C. Weather officials warned the public to avoid outdoor activities between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. and noted the possibility of strong winds and lightning in some regions.

District administrations are currently setting up shade, temporary shelters, and drinking water facilities in public areas. Health experts advise citizens to:
