Jamshedpur/ Ranchi, June 19: Jharkhand on Thursday reported 24 new coronavirus cases taking the tally to 1921. In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 280 with 2 new cases reported on June 18. Both the positives in Jamshedpur have travel history to Delhi and were institutional quarantine. One of the positive is a resident of Ghatsila and one belongs to Zakirnagar in Mango. Both the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward. Jamshedpur also saw 10 people defeat coronavirus and have been discharged from the hospital. Other positive are from Simdega 9, Garhwa 4, Latehar 2, Gumla 2, Jamshedpur 2, Hazaribagh 1, Lohardaga 1, Ramgarh 1 and Ranchi 2. Around 49 patients have recovered from the disease in the state on Thursday. Total active cases are 711 while 1200 have recovered from the disease. The state till date has reported 11 deaths. The recovery rate in the state is 62.42 per cent. Jharkhand reported its 11th coronavirus death on Thursday. The person’s report came positive after his death on Wednesday. The 48-year-old man was admitted to Hazaribagh Medical College Hospital isolation ward. The deceased is a resident of Mungra village in Ichak block and was taxi driver in Mumbai who returned to Hazariabagh on June 14 with his family. He was admitted to the hospital on June 15.
Most of the 1,921 cases have been found positive is migrants.
In Jharkhand, there has been no percentage prevalence of community transmission found in the Sero-Survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in three districts of the state. Based on the reports received by ICMR, there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand.
The migrant labourers who returned over the last one month, around 1500 have contributed to the state tally. East Singhbhum has become the new hot spot in the state with more than 200 active cases.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. Earlier, two intern doctors at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were found to be Covid-19 positive, health officials said, adding that they had a recent travel history.
East Singhbhum district accounts for 280 cases out of a total of 1921.
