Jharkhand toll rises to 19, positive cases up to 2747
Ranchi/Jamshedpur, July 4: In a single day the state has recorded its highest number of casualties as four people died due to Coronavirus on Saturday. Out of these 4, two have died in RIMS while two others passed away in Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur.
Overall death caused due to Coronavirus in Jharkhand has now increased to 19. Out of the two people who died in RIMS, Ranchi one is a male hailing from Khunti district while another is a female from Sahebganj. The 59-year-old man hailing from Mela Tand in Khunti had been suffering heart ailment since a long time and tested positive for Coronavirus on July 1, 2020. He died of cardiac arrest at 1.30 am on Saturday. Khunti woman was suffering from kidney disease and died on Saturday morning at 4 am.
Earlier two corona positive each died in Bokaro and Giridih, one each in Gumla, Sahebganj, Koderma and Simdega, 3 in Hazaribagh, 4 in Ranchi.
First death in Jharkhand was reported on April 9 when a 72-year-old man died of coronavirus in Bokaro district.
Coronavirus case in Jharkhand has crossed 2700 mark with 44 new positives on Saturday, July 4. With 44 new cases, state corona tally has reached 2747.
In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 486 with 21 new cases reported on July 4. The district administration spokesperson informed that 21 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Saturday. Earlier on Wednesday, 45 positives were reported including 19 CRPF Jawan from Sundernagar camp who have returned from different regions across India have tested positive.
Of the 16 new positives in Jamshedpur, 2 have travel history to Delhi, 2 have returned from Patna, 3 from Begusarai, 4 from Duragpur and 3 arrived from Kolkata.
Of the new positives in Jamshedpur, 1 is a resident of Telco, 2 Kadma, 8 Sacchi, 1 Jugsalai, 3 Sonari, 1 Agrico, 1 New Basti Bagbera, 3 Kadma and one person resides at Sidhgora.
All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.
Other positives in Jharkhand are from Bokaro 1, Deoghar 2, Dhanbad 4, Giridih 1, Hazaribagh 2, Lohardaga 1, Pakur 1, Palamau 3, Ranchi 6, Seraikela 2 taking the state tally to 2747.
On Saturday, 2 patients have recovered in East Singhbhum district and were discharged from TMH COVID-19 ward. One of the recovered person is from Dhalbhumgarh and another from Barigora.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 686 and fatalities at 19 while 2035 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2084 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 486 cases out of a total of 2747. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
