Chaibasa, March 27: Six persons were arrested by a joint team of Jharkhand Police and CRPF led by Jagnnathpur DSP Monoj Kumar Jhan for allegedly killing two brothers at Udajo village under Jetia police station area on Sunday. The accused were sent to district jail Chaibasa.
The DSP said that the two brothers were beaten to death and subsequently their bodies were burnt in Sagar Kara forest following a decree by the local panchayat, which held them as bull thieves. The incident took place on Thursday night.
In this connection, Brajmohan Laguri, deceased brother, lodged an FIR with the Jetia Police station against 13 persons by name on Friday .
Jhan added that the area is infested by Maoist extremists and in order to avoid any untoward incident, they visited the area with full preparations. �We could arrest six persons, while others could manage to escape the scene. All the six accused have confessed the crime.�
The arrested include Subhash Laguri, Borjo Laguri, Laxaman Laguri, Manki Laguri, Ankura Laguri and Budh Ram Laguri . �We also recovered the dead bodies from SagarKara forest. The deceased have been identified as Surya Laguri and Sanatan Laguri,� the DSP said.
The bodies have been sent to Sadar Hospital, Chaibasa, for post mortem. The deceased�s younger brother Jayram Laguri claimed that some more people were killed in the village and their bodies were also burnt in the forest. The police could not recover those dead bodies.
A group of people are behaving unlawfully and whoever opens their mouth is being killed by them. They also destroy houses of the villagers. �My motor bike was also burnt, Jayram added.
The villagers are stricken with panic.
Those present at the spot included magistrate Noamundi block circle officer Ravi Kishore Ram, police inspector Ananda Minj, Jetia police station in-charge Sahdeo Toppo and Lokeshawar Choudhary.
