Jamshedpur, Jan 25: Jharkhand police has made a strategy to nab the 17 most wanted Maoists with announcement of hefty amounts as cash prize for helping in arresting of these rebels.
Out of these 17 most wanted Maoists, the rebel hailing from East Singhbhum district include, Ramprasad Mardi alias Sachin, a native of Jhujhka village under Patamda block, Asim Mandal alias Akash a native of Bengal but active in Ghatshila area of the district and from Seraikela-Kharsawan notorious rebel Maharaj Pramanik, a native of Darouda village in Ichagarh block figure prominently.
While Sachin has a prize amount of Rs 15 lakh on his arrest, Akash has one crore as prize money and Maharaj Pramanik has Rs 10 lakh.
Significantly, Sachin and Akash are wanted by CBI in connection with the murder of then Jamshedpur MP and JMM leader Sunil Mahato. Akash is a native of West Midnapore district of Bengal. The then Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahato was gunned down on March 4, 2007 at Baguria football ground in Ghatshila along with three other persons.
While Ranjit and his paramour who were involved in the murder surrendered before the Bengal police but Akash and Sachin are still active despite several attempts by Jamshedpur police to pressurize Sachin to surrender.
Maharaj Pramanik is wanted in connection with the brutal murder of five police personnel at Tiruldih and is also involved in over a dozen other crimes.
