Jamshedpur, Feb 25: The pharmacists of Jharkhand have decided to go on agitation against alleged corruption in the state health department. They will be staging demonstration in Ranchi on 28th February in support of their various demands. This was informed here on Friday by Jitendra Sharma, state president of All India Pharmacist Association.

“We have called for agitation in the state Capital to seek prompt measures against corruption in the department. We have lodged numerous complaints with the minister, MLAs and senior authorities, but no action has been taken against the culprits. This clearly shows there is a lack of willpower or intention to act against corruption,” Sharma said.

As many as 60 to 70 pharmacists of the city are expected to go to Ranchi to participate in the demonstration.

The pharmacists said all their complaints to department high-ups have proved futile. This is why the union decided to go on a warpath, they said.

The Association leaders said issues such as online renewal of licence, frequent leak of pharmacy exam papers, employment of fake pharmacists in medical shops and discrepancies in mandatory procedures were serious cause of concern for the pharmacists of the state.
