All the federal states have lifted 16.90 crore tones of the allocated food grains (rice and wheat). The department has allocated 51.87 lakh tones of food grains under targeted PDS to Jharkhand during the past
four years since 2011-12.
Out of the total allocation the Jharkhand Government has so far lifted 38.09 lakh tones of food grains. This was informed by minister of state for department of consumer affairs and PDS, Raosaheb Patil Danve in the
Parliament while answering a query of Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani.
The minister informed the House that during the past four years allotments about 10.23 crore tonnes of
rice and 8.74 crore tonnes of wheat had been made for the states.
Out of the total allotment the states had lifted about 9.48 tonnes of rice and 7.42 tonnes of wheat. Under targeted PDS the Centre had allocated 45.54 lakh tonnes of rice and 6.33 lakh tonnes of wheat to Jharkhand, out of which the State Government had lifted 37.92 lakh tonnes of rice and 0.17 lakh tonnes of wheat,
the minister said.
The Union Government monitors distribution and lifting of allocated food grains to States and ensures that
the allocation reaching the PDS centres in different states.
