Jamshedpur, Feb 10: The Housing Committee of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly (JLA) held a meeting with office bearers of the district in the parliamentary committee. The meeting was chaired by JJ Goldstein. Among those who participated in the discussion were Sukhram Oraon along with department officials of health, education, building construction, urban and rural development, rural work, forest environment and climate change, transport, revenue and land reform, water resources, mining and others. The departmental officials informed about all schemes implemented in the entire state.
During the meeting, instructions were given to departmental officials to complete all pending housing scheme projects within the timeframe. Speaking to the media, JJ Goldstein said, “The schemes pertaining to house construction for the urban poor are being implemented but the pace is somewhat sluggish and has to be speeded up in a time-bound manner to meet the purpose of these schemes. However, JNAC has been doing laudable work in implementation of the government housing scheme as is reflected in the Birsanagar schematic house building scenario.”
However, Goldstein rued the fact that in several marked areas for the scheme, the construction of houses remained incomplete. He expressed dissatisfaction when he said, “This snail’s pace in the house construction job has to be changed and the pace (of construction) enhanced. Those that have been constructed have not been handed over. Directives have been issued to builders to complete the constructions on time and those houses that have been constructed be handed over.” Directors of DRDA and NEP, district level officials ADC, DMO, DEO and others participated in the meeting.
