Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has come up with its second list of candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections nominating Vijay Hansda from Rajmahal and Joba Majhi from Singhbhum parliamentary constituencies.

Vijay Hansda, the incumbent MP, secured the ticket for the third consecutive time from Rajmahal, while Joba Majhi, former Minister of Women and Child Development, emerged as the candidate for the Chaibasa parliamentary seat. Majhi’s candidacy is being viewed as recognition of her sacrifice, having lost her ministerial post in the new Champai cabinet.

JMM’s announcement brought the total count of its candidates to four, including Nalin Soren and Mathura Prasad Mahato declared earlier for other constituencies.

In Rajmahal, Vijay Hansda of JMM will contest against BJP’s Tala Marandi, while in Chaibasa, Joba Majhi will face Geeta Koda, who recently joined BJP after quitting Congress.

Meanwhile, veteran JMM leader Lobin Hembram’s opposition to Vijay Hansda’s candidature reflected the ongoing internal debates within the party, citing alleged discontent among constituents.

In other developments, Congress has announced candidates for three seats, while CPI (ML) and RJD have nominated contestants for Koderma and Palamau respectively. NDA has declared candidates for all 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, with some announcements still awaited from the alliance.
