Jamshedpur : In a significant development, the Jharkhand High Court, under the jurisdiction of Justice Anil Kumar Chaudhary, has dismissed the First Information Report (FIR) filed at Sakchi police station related to a road jam incident in Jamshedpur back in 2017.
The FIR, originally registered against a dozen individuals, including Sardar Gurdeep Singh Pappu, Sardar Gurdev Singh Raja, and Sardar Ajit Singh Gambhir, stemmed from a protest against encroachment in the Sakchi area. The demonstrators, infuriated by the demolition of the office of then Jharkhand Minority Commission Vice Chairman Gurdev Singh Raja, had blocked roads in protest.
Two separate FIRs were filed by the Municipal Officer of the Notified Area Committee and Police Inspector Madan Mohan Sharma. Warrants were issued against the accused, prompting Sardar Gurdeep Singh Pappu, Gurdev Singh Raja, and Ajit Singh Gambhir to seek refuge in the Jharkhand High Court.
Advocate Surabhi, representing the petitioners, argued that the incident, place, accused, and facts in both FIRs were similar, citing legal precedents. The Jharkhand High Court, in agreement with these arguments, dismissed Police Case No. 153/2017. Consequently, the hearing against the accused in Case No. 152/2017 will continue in the District Civil Court.
In response to the High Court’s decision, Gurdeep Singh Pappu claimed that the names were included as part of a conspiracy. Notably, BJP leaders Rikhraj Singh Ricky, Kritijit Singh Rocky, Prince Singh, Hardayal Singh, Dhruv Mishra, and Mahendra Singh were also implicated in this case.
