Jharkhand High Court grants age relaxation to Civil Judge Exam applicants

Ranchi : In a significant relief to candidates appearing for the Civil Judge Junior Division Competitive Examination-2023, the Jharkhand High Court has granted a crucial age relaxation. The decision, issued by the division bench comprising Justice S Chandrashekhar and Justice Anubha Rawat Chaudhary, follows hearings on various petitions addressing the upper age limit concerns of applicants.

Advocates Saurabh Arun, Shrestha Gaitam, Rajesh Kumar, and Amit Kumar Sinha passionately represented the applicants during the hearings. The division bench, after listening to the perspectives of the applicants, the state government, and the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), reached a consensus to accept the petition.

The final order from the Jharkhand High Court mandates the relaxation of the age limit for candidates aged 35 and above, providing a fair opportunity for all applicants. The court emphasized the inclusion of all eligible candidates in the examination, extending the benefit of age relaxation to those who applied online to JPSC and fall outside the regular age limit criteria. The cut-off date for age consideration was set as January 31, 2019.
