Jamshedpur: Health Minister Banna Gupta today launched the Filaria Eradication Programme under National Vector Borne Diseases. The campaign was launched by the Health Department team by giving a tablet of DEC and Albendazole to Health Minister Banna Gupta at his residence.
DEC and Albendazole tablets were also made available to the Minister’s family members and others present on the occasion. Giving his best wishes for the successful editing of this campaign, he said that all the residents of the district should benefit from this campaign by ensuring access to them so that East Singhbhum district and state will be filaria free.
Under the Filaria Eradication Campaign, a Public Drug Abuse (MDA) programme is being run from August 10 to 20, in which three days of identified booths and three days of door-to-door visits will be made available to the people of DEC and Albendazole. At the same time, the drug will not be distributed in the containment zone in view of Covid-19.
Civil surgeon Dr. RN Jha said that the drug distribution team will make the medicine available to the people by adopting all necessary protective measures regarding Covid-19 during drug delivery.
On the occasion of the launch of the campaign by feeding medicine to the minister, civil surgeon Dr. R. N Jha, Dr. Meena Kalundia, Dr. BN Usha, Dr. Sarauli Zamania, Dr. Jamil, Program Manager Vinay Kumar, Financial Manager Subodh Kumar Chaudhary, Anu Kumari, Finance Logistics Assistant, VBD Office, District VBD Advisor Geetanjali Sharma and Others were present.
Under the Filaria Eradication Program, all the people of the district will be given door-to-door medicines except pregnant mothers, children below 02 years and seriously ill people as well as currently infected persons with coronavirus.
