Jamshedpur, July 2: In a rare gesture of kindness, Health Minister Banna Gupta on Saturday donated blood to a needy patient admitted at the MGM Medical College Hospital. The minister visited the hospital to inaugurate a testing lab.
Sources informed that Banna Gupta was inspecting the medical college hospital after inaugurating the testing facility when a woman approached him seeking help for blood.
The woman, who hailed from Kalikapur village in Potka block of the East Singhbhum district, while meeting the minister pleaded hat her husband was in dire need of blood which is not available in the hospital. She sought help from the minister if he can do something in arranging the blood for her husband who is struggling for life at the hospital.
Setting an example, the minister immediately instructed the hospital authority accompanying him during the inspection to take him to the blood bank for making him donate the blood.
Gupta donated blood and ensured that the patient in question was administered the same and then only he completed the inspection.
After the exercise of the impromptu blood donation was over, the minister who is the MLA Jamshedpur West assembly constituency urged the people to donate blood as much as they can for saving precious lives.
Appreciating the Minister, the superintendent of MGM Medical College Hospital Arun Kumar said that by making the unprepared blood donation to a needy patient, the health minister proved his concern for the society and inspired others to do pious work like donating blood.
