Jamshedpur, August 26: Hardcore Maoist Maharaj Pramanik carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh surrendered before the Seraikela police.
Maharaj Pramanik a resident of Ichagarh thana area in Seraikela-Kharsawan district was in touch with the state police intelligence wing and also with district police for his impending surrender after Maoist outfits had declared him an outsider for helping police and killing ultras.
In Seraikela-Kharsawan, Ghatshila and Chaibasa under Kolhan area, the Naxalite Maharaja was a big challenge to the police and had been evading arrest repeatedly despite police continuously running a campaign in the jungles to kill Maharaja Pramanik and his squad.
Naxalite Maharaj Pramanik, who had become a headache for the police and security forces for a long time, was dismissed from the organization by the CPI-Maoist. He was also removed from the post of zonal member after being accused of indulging in anti-organization activities. At the same time, area committee member Balloon Sardar was also dismissed from the organization.
CPI-Maoist southern zonal committee spokesperson Ashok gave this information in a press release. It was said in the release that Maharaj Pramanik had betrayed the organization by coming out in the name of getting treatment for the disease. It was alleged that Maharaj Pramanik left the organization on August 14 with Rs 40 lakh, an AK 47 rifle, 150 bullets, a 9 mm pistol, mobile, medicine tablets and walkie-talkie set.
The Maoist spokesperson Ashok had said that Maharaj Pramanik had gone out on May 27 and June 22 on the pretext of getting treatment for the disease but betrayed the organisation by meeting top officers of the police and intelligence department. The CPI-Maoist organization has also announced the punishment of Maharaj Pramanik and Balloon Sardar in the Jan Adalat.
In the press release, spokesperson Ashok had said that Maharaj Pramanik was associated with the CPI-Maoist organization in the year 2009. After about two years, he was made a sub-zonal member of the area committee. In 2015, he was elected a member of the Southern Zonal Committee. He was given the responsibility of functioning independently by making him in-charge of Bundu, Chandil subzone.
