CII Jharkhand session on ‘Competitive Jharkhand: Partnerships for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth’

Jamshedpur: Jitendra Kumar, Secretary, Department of Labour, Employment, Training & Skill Development, Government of Jharkhand, emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering a user-friendly ecosystem for MSMEs.

Addressing industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, at the CII Jharkhand session on ‘Competitive Jharkhand: Partnerships for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth’ at a hotel in Jamshedpur on Monday, Kumar highlighted the challenges MSMEs face in market access and their long-term sustainability.

Secretary stressed that access to market remains a key challenge for MSMEs, directly impacting their viability. He elaborated on the Public Procurement Policy, mandated since 2015, and how the industry carnival provides a crucial platform for procurement opportunities, enabling MSMEs to integrate into supply chains. He also addressed sector-specific requirements, particularly in defense and railways, underscoring the need for quality enhancement and supply range expansion.

The session, hosted by CII Jharkhand, served as a vital platform for fostering strategic partnerships to drive innovation, economic resilience, and social equity in the state. The discussions centered on sustainable growth, inclusive development, and policy-driven infrastructure advancements to position Jharkhand as a key player in India’s economic transformation.

Kumar further outlined various government provisions and subsidies aimed at supporting industries in adopting energy-efficient and advanced technologies.

Ranjot Singh, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Emdet Jamshedpur Pvt Ltd emphasized the need for Jharkhand to enhance its industrial relevance in alignment with Viksit Bharat. He urged the government to ensure that minerals extracted from the state should be processed locally. He also firmly stated his belief that Jharkhand is the best destination for industries, given its rich resources and immense growth potential. He highlighted CII’s notable achievements, including 27 major events, 17 workshops and training sessions, safety audits, government interactions, and sports events.

Suvendra Behera, Chairman, CII Eastern Region & Vice Chairman & Managing Director, RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd in his deliberation referred Jharkhand as a Green State and emphasized its strong potential in the IT and automobile sectors. He advocated for integrating sustainability into school and college curricula and urged the government to introduce schemes for process upgrades in manufacturing. He also addressed geopolitical challenges, highlighting the impact of U.S. reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods and stressed the need to enhance exports of sustainable products. His focus remained on green manufacturing and achieving net-zero goals. He also emphasized on the collaboration between Jharkhand and Bengal, alongside strong government-industry partnerships, to attract investment.

Ritu Raj Sinha Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Ltd stated key insights on policy matters. He highlighted on CII’s collaboration with the government to elevate Jharkhand’s industrial standing. He commended the distinguished speakers for their forward-thinking discussions and expressed gratitude to various stakeholders for their contributions, emphasizing their role in driving Jharkhand’s sustainable and inclusive growth.

The CII Jharkhand State Annual Meeting 2025 & Session on Competitive Jharkhand: Partnerships for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth successfully brought together 210 delegates, including industry leaders, policymakers, and experts, fostering insightful discussions on strategic collaborations for Jharkhand’s growth. The session reinforced the state’s potential in sustainability, inclusive development, and industrial competitiveness. With a shared vision for economic transformation, the deliberations set the stage for actionable strategies, ensuring Jharkhand’s continued progress on the national and global front.

 

Inclusive growth, digitalization key to East Singhbhum’s progress: DC

Jamshedpur: Ananya Mittal, Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum, outlined key strategies for the district’s development. He emphasized inclusive growth, ensuring no community is left behind, and addressed infrastructure challenges to support industrial and social needs. Mittal highlighted the importance of strengthening logistics, adopting green solutions for sustainability, and leveraging public-private partnerships to drive progress. He also stressed the role of digitalization in transforming the district’s economy and the need to support 3.5 lakh MSMEs in Jharkhand through skill development and global integration. Mittal called for collaboration among stakeholders to make East Singhbhum a model of balanced and equitable growth.

 

Sustainability begins at home, J’khand needs a master plan: Chanakya

Jamshedpur: Chanakya Chaudhary, Past Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Vice President – Corporate Services, Tata Steel Ltd emphasizing that sustainability begins at home. Citing Tata Steel’s commitment to sustainable practices, he highlighted the steel industry’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 2030, stressing the need for inclusivity across all sectors. He shared insights from a visit to Odisha to assess and enhance mining processes. Addressing labour inclusivity, he welcomed the cabinet’s approval of night shifts for women, underscoring corporate responsibility for safety. He emphasized the need for freight and mineral corridors and concluded with a powerful message, “Jharkhand has the resources; now, stakeholders must create a master plan.”
