Jharkhand Elections: JLKM secures third spot in seven Kolhan assembly seats

Jamshedpur, Nov 26: The Jharkhand Loktantrik Kranti Morcha (JLKM), contesting its debut election in the Jharkhand Assembly, made a significant impact in the Kolhan region. Out of the 10 candidates fielded by the party, seven finished in third place, disrupting the traditional vote equations in key constituencies.

The constituencies where JLKM candidates emerged as strong contenders include Potka, Ghatshila, Ichagarh, Kharsawan, Jugsalai, Manoharpur, and Saraikela. The party’s performance highlighted its growing presence as a challenger to established players such as the BJP, JMM, and AJSU.

Among the notable performances was Tarun Mahato from Ichagarh, who secured 41,138 votes, a figure that influenced the outcome in the constituency. His strong showing contributed to the victory of JMM candidate Savita Mahato and caused the defeat of AJSU’s Harelal Mahato, with a winning margin of 26,523 votes.

Prem Mardi from Saraikela also made a mark by securing 40,056 votes, standing out among stalwarts like BJP’s Champai Soren and JMM’s Ganesh Mahali. Similarly, Vinod Swansi from Jugsalai garnered 36,998 votes, challenging the dominance of traditional parties in the area. His presence was keenly felt during the counting process.

Other candidates added to JLKM’s growing reputation as a disruptor. Panduram Haiburu from Kharsawan surprised many by securing 33,841 votes, marking JLKM as a formidable opponent even in strongholds of major parties.

JLKM’s emergence as a third force has disrupted the equations of established political players, proving that the party holds potential to challenge the traditional dominance of larger parties. Its ability to attract significant vote shares in its maiden election signals a bright future for its role in Jharkhand’s political arena.
