Jharkhand Elections: Countdown begins for counting exercise, Jamshedpur West leads with 16 tables for 22 rounds

Jamshedpur: The counting of votes for the Jamshedpur Assembly constituencies has been meticulously planned to ensure a seamless and transparent process. Covering multiple constituencies, the process involves detailed arrangements tailored to the specific requirements of each area. The Election Commission has finalized the schedule, which includes the deployment of counting tables, the number of rounds required, and the training of personnel to manage the operations efficiently.

For the Baharagora constituency, the counting will be conducted across 14 tables for votes from 264 polling stations. This process will be completed in 19 rounds, making it the constituency with the fewest rounds required. In the Ghatsila constituency, votes from 291 polling stations will be counted at 15 tables over 20 rounds. Similarly, Potka will require 16 tables to count votes from 326 polling booths, and the process will span 21 rounds.

The Jugsalai constituency, with the highest number of polling stations at 381, will utilize 20 tables for the counting process. This will take 20 rounds to complete. In Jamshedpur East, 303 polling stations will be covered with 15 tables, requiring 21 rounds for completion. Meanwhile, Jamshedpur West, which has 348 polling stations, will have 16 counting tables and will complete the process in 22 rounds, the highest among the constituencies.

In addition to the counting of votes cast through electronic voting machines (EVMs), the counting of postal ballots will take place in seven blocks covering all the assembly constituencies. This will ensure that every vote is accounted for and included in the final results.

To guarantee a smooth process, the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner,  Ananya Mittal, has mandated comprehensive training for all personnel involved in the vote counting. These training sessions will be conducted from 19 November to 21 November at Ma Ekal Zone Sabhagar, Bistupur, Jamshedpur. On 19 November, training for postal ballot counting staff, including Counting Assistants, Counting Supervisors, and RO Table staff, will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The same day, EVM counting staff and RO Table staff will undergo training from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

On 20 November, the training will continue with sessions for the Receiving Team from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by training for Micro Observers from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The final day, 21 November, will repeat the training for postal ballot counting staff in the morning session from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and for EVM counting staff in the afternoon from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The entire counting process is designed to prioritize transparency, accuracy, and efficiency. Extensive security arrangements have been put in place, including the installation of CCTV cameras at all counting locations to monitor the activities in real-time. These measures are aimed at maintaining public trust and ensuring that the results reflect the will of the voters without any discrepancies.

The administration’s meticulous planning and focus on training underscore its commitment to conducting the counting process with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. This comprehensive approach reflects the significance of ensuring a fair electoral process in the democratic framework.
