Jamshedpur, Dec 15: Former state minister and Independent candidate Saryu Roy Sunday iterated his demand for an inquiry into the purpose of visit by a team of electronic voting machine (EVM) specialists comprising 30 electronics engineers and technicians in Ranchi some four days ago. He said the team had stayed in Ranchi-based hotels and that the specialists were from Electronics Corporation of India.
Refuting allegations that he had given false information to the Chief Election Officer of Jharkhand Vinay Choubey in this regard, Roy said, The team of EVM experts had come to Ranchi from Bengaluru and Bhopal. A friend of mine had given this information to me from Bengaluru. The Jharkhand State Election Commission and state authorities know that two phases of state Assembly elections are yet to take place. They should tell the people as to what did this team do with the EVMs for three days. If my information was wrong, they should issue a corrigendum in this regard.
Roy further lambasted the state BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo for criticizing him after his visit to Dumka on a campaign in support of JMM executive president Hemant Soren. He said he had never called Hemant Soren corrupt publicly.
Once I had informed Hemant Soren about certain facts when he had become Chief Minister. The then state minister Rajendra Singh had given an explanation in this regard, he said.
Roy said earlier he felt ashamed when someone told him that Hemant Soren government was better than the BJP-led government. He said the state BJP spokesperson should speak on allegations leveled by him against CM Raghubar Das.
Roy further said Raghubar Das was the Deputy CM in Sibu Soren government. He said Das had earlier claimed himself to be the real political heir of the JMM supremo.
