Ranchi: In a significant milestone for the medical community in Jharkhand, doctors participating in the Annual Conference of Jharkhand Eye Society will now receive Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit hours for the first time. CME credit hours serve as an indicator of a doctor’s ongoing professional development.
The culmination of a 20-year-long effort by Jharkhand’s doctors, the Health Department has officially sanctioned the provision of CME credit hours to the state’s medical practitioners. Arun Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, handed over the official letter confirming this decision to Dr. Bharti Kashyap, Chairperson of the Scientific Committee of Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society.
Dr. Kashyap highlighted that, for the first time, doctors attending the Annual Conference of Jharkhand Eye Society, scheduled to take place in Hazaribagh from March 31 to April 2, will be eligible for CME credit hours. This decision, conveyed through the Health Department’s letter, is a momentous achievement for the entire medical community, especially those engaged in research and participating in seminars.
Expressing joy over the department’s decision, Dr. Kashyap emphasized that this development is a collective triumph for all doctors in the state. Going forward, doctors attending various medical conferences across Jharkhand will be entitled to CME credit hours, enhancing their professional growth and encouraging continued participation in academic activities.
