Jamshedpur: Taking a stern stance on the 13-day-old abduction of entrepreneur Kairav Gandhi, Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra arrived in Jamshedpur on Sunday with a clear mandate for the local force: ensure his safe return at any cost.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation, the DGP has now officially inducted the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) into the search operation to provide high-level technical and tactical support.
High-Level Review and Site Inspection
DGP Mishra arrived from Chaibasa at 11:30 AM and immediately convened a high-level review meeting at the SSP’s residence. The session included SSP Piyush Pandey, City SP Kumar Shivashish, and several DSPs and station in-charges.
Following the meeting, the DGP personally visited the crime scene to conduct a reconstruction of the kidnapping. Accompanied by senior officers, she inspected key areas including:
- The vicinity of Kairav Gandhi’s residence.
- The Sonari-Kadma Link Road roundabout.
- Marine Drive and the Dobo area.
Crackdown on Land Mafia and Narcotics
While the Kairav Gandhi case remains the top priority, DGP Mishra also issued broad directives to sanitize the city’s criminal landscape. She ordered a massive crackdown on:
- Illegal Land Deals: Targeting those involved in coercive or fraudulent land trading.
- Narcotics Trade: Strict action against drug peddlers and smuggling networks.
- Illicit Businesses: A total freeze on all forms of organized illegal activities in the district.
Investigating in the Shadows
Speaking to the press after the meeting, SSP Piyush Pandey noted that the DGP is currently touring various districts to audit police performance. “Regarding the Kairav Gandhi case, the DGP has provided specific guidelines. However, to ensure the safety of the victim and the success of the operation, the details of the investigation remain confidential,” the SSP stated.
