Jharkhand Congress forms committee to analyse defeats in 14 assembly seats

Ranchi, Dec 2: In the wake of its defeat in 14 assembly seats in the recent Jharkhand elections, the Congress party has launched an extensive review process to investigate the reasons behind the losses. The review initiative was announced under the guidance of state in-charge Ghulam Ahmed, with district-wise committees formed to thoroughly assess each seat’s results. The committees will focus on identifying mistakes and understanding the underlying factors that contributed to the losses. Ramashray Prasad has been designated as the convener for the committee assigned to review the loss in the Hatia assembly seat in Ranchi district, with Ajay Singh and Jawahar Lal Mahatha serving as members. The committee will engage with the local candidate, the district president, office bearers, as well as block and division presidents to understand the reasons for the defeat. Furthermore, the committees will review the performance of key party leaders and department heads involved in the election campaign.

The formation of these committees was finalized with the approval of Jharkhand Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh. The committees will also assess the performance of party leaders at various levels, including district and block representatives, and explore areas where the campaign could have been strengthened. The following districts and seats will be reviewed: In Hazaribagh, the committee will cover the constituencies of Hazaribagh, Barkagaon, Barhi, and Mandu, with Bandhu Tirkey as convenor and Sultan Ahmed and Ravindra Kumar Jha as members. In Dhanbad, the constituencies of Dhanbad, Jharia, and Baghmara will be reviewed under convenor Shahzada Anwar, with members Ashok Chaudhary and Jaishankar Pathak. The Palamu district review will cover Daltonganj, Vishrampur, and Panki, with Ravindra Singh as the convenor and Bhim Kumar and Binay Sinha Deepu as members. For East Singhbhum, the review will focus on Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West, with convenor Brajendra Prasad Singh and members Rama Khalkho and Alok Dubey. In the Dumka and Deoghar region, the Jarmundi constituency will be reviewed under convenor Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, with members Amulya Neeraj Khalkho and Dr. M Tausif. Finally, the Ranchi-Hatia review will be led by Ramashray Prasad, with Ajay Singh and Jawahar Lal Mahatha as members.
