Ranchi/Rajrappa, Aug 17: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren bid an emotional farewell to his father and legendary leader, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, by immersing his ashes in the sacred Damodar River at Rajrappa on Sunday. The immersion was performed with full traditional rituals, marking a deeply personal and spiritual moment for the Chief Minister and his family.

Hemant Soren, accompanied by his brother Basant Soren, sons, and other family members, departed early in the morning from their ancestral home in Nemra for Rajrappa Temple. The ashes were immersed after the completion of the Sanskar Bhoj—a ceremonial feast held as a mark of respect for the departed soul.

The Sanskar Bhoj was organized on Saturday in Nemra village, drawing lakhs of people from across Jharkhand. Political leaders, party workers, and the general public gathered to pay tribute to the late leader, showcasing the immense respect and admiration he commanded across the state.

Shibu Soren, affectionately known as Dishom Guru, was a towering figure in the Jharkhand movement and a pivotal force behind the formation of the state. His passing marked an irreparable loss for Jharkhand’s political landscape.
CM Hemant Soren, who considered his father not just as a parent but also as a political mentor, now has to shoulder the responsibility of carrying forward his legacy.
