Ranchi, March 9: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren celebrated Baha Festival at his ancestral village in Nemra on Thursday.
Chief minister was accompanied by his mother and other family members. Along with Chief Minister, his wife Kalpana Soren, mother Rupi Soren and other family members were also present.

“There is an ambience of festival and happiness among people and it is time for all to practice their rituals and customs,” said Soren.
Baha festival falls on the second day of Holi every year.
Earlier on Wednesday, people of the village welcomed Hemant Soren with the traditional custom of Lota-Pani. The villagers completed all the preparations at the place where the puja was held along with cleaning of the site of the puja.
At the same time, elaborate security arrangements were in place for the Chief Minister’s stay.

Police force were deployed at every square-intersection.
After Sohrai, the second big festival of the tribals is Baha Porob (Baha Festival) which is observed by Santhal, Oraon, Munda and other tribes. In this festival, men and women as well as children wear traditional clothes and dance a lot on the beats of Mandar. Santali people celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm. This festival is celebrated in the joy of the arrival of new leaves and flowers in the trees after autumn.

Earlier in the day chief minister sat with the locals and listened to their problems and directed administration to address their grievances.
