Jharkhand CM for making farmers financially strong

Focus on mills and food processing unit


Ranchi, February 15: In line with chief minister Hemant Soren dream to make each farmers of the state financially strong an initiative has been taken to strengthen rice production in the state. 

“Jharkhand is a rich state with agricultural heritage, and the driver of its prosperity is the hardworking farmers of the state. The continuous progress of these farmers is in the priority of the present government. On the instructions of Chief Minister an initiative has been taken to strengthen rice production in the state so that farmers can get fair price for their produce. For this, the work of encouraging investors to open new mills by providing land to rice mills at concessional rates has been started by Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA),” said information and publication department release on Tuesday. 
 Recently, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of mills in Palamu, Garhwa, Simdega, Khunti, Gumla, Latehar, West Singhbhum, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Godda together. This has opened a new way for 1028 people to get direct employment. Presently 3575 people are doing direct employment in the rice mills of the state.

On the other hand the state government is working towards increasing infrastructure for  food processing units to increase exports along with farmers income, market space and empowerment of farmers. The government aims to connect the producer clusters to the markets through a well-equipped supply chain. At present, there are 16 rice processing unit  and equal number of wheat processing unit and four vegetable and fruit processing unit, five milk Processing and nine bakery processing and 16 other food processing and 11 feed processing units in the state. With the establishment of these processing units, the state’s economy is getting support and investors are getting encouragement.

The state government is also ensuring the availability of land for promoting investment and setting up industries. For this, 1044 acres of land is available for allotment in the industrial area across the state. For allotment of 237 acres out of 4531.99 acres of land in Adityapur, 365.45 acres of land in Ranchi for allotment of 365 acres, Bokaro for allotment of 34 acres in 1604.36 acres of land and 406 acres of land in Santhal Pargana for allotment out of 4531.99 acres.
