Ranchi, February 8: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has taken seriously the inhuman treatment meted out to a 14-year-old girl from Simdega in Gurugram, Haryana.
The Chief Minister has ordered Deputy Commissioner Simdega and Jharkhand Police to register an FIR in the matter and take strict action along with providing medical facilities to the girl child and facilitating her safe return to home.
The Chief Minister has urged the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Haryana Government to take cognizance of this serious matter and provide necessary assistance to bring the girl back to her family.
Following the Chief Minister’s order, Deputy Commissioner Simdega informed the Chief Minister that the matter has been taken into cognizance and the team of Anti Human Trafficking Unit will leave Thursday to rescue the girl child. The benefits of medical, education, rehabilitation and schemes will be made available to the girl child quickly.
The Chief Minister got information that a 14-year-old girl resident of Simdega was taken to Gurugram to do household chores and was subjected to inhuman tortures in the past.
Incidentally, a joint team of police and Sakhi, a one-stop crisis centre, rescued a 14-year-old girl from Jharkhand hired by a couple to care for their child from New Colony in Gurugram on Tuesday.
The couple, who work in private companies, was allegedly torturing and sexually harassing the girl for months. Several injuries were found on her hands, feet and mouth, the police said.
According to the complaint filed by Pinky Malik, the Sakhi centre in-charge, the girl from Jharkhand was hired through a placement agency.
The couple made her work and also beat her mercilessly daily. Along with not letting her sleep the whole night, they also didn’t give her any food. Her mouth was completely swollen while injury marks were found everywhere on her body, Malik alleged.
The girl has been admitted in a hospital in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple hired the girl five months ago to take care of their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter. During this period, both the husband and the wife used to beat her daily. She was also sexually harassed, the police said.
The child used to eat leftover food thrown in the dustbin after not being given food.
An FIR has been registered against the couple under sections 323 (causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and the POCSO Act at New Colony police station.
