Jamshedpur: Chief Minister Champai Soren expressed strong political sentiments, accusing the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of being directionless and resorting to tactics like the engagement of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against former CM Hemant Soren. The remarks came during an event primarily organised for the distribution of Abua Awas Yojna certificates and the disbursement of the first instalment of funds to over 24,000 beneficiaries across Kolhan, at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur.

Distribution of Abua Awas Yojna Certificates: The event witnessed a festive atmosphere with over 5,000 attendees, including women, who had come from remote areas of Singhbhum and the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Champai Soren, popularly known as the “Kolhan Tiger,” distributed Rs 74.78 crores to 24,827 beneficiaries of the Abua Awas Yojna by pressing a button from the dais. The Abua Awas Yojna certificates were distributed to the beneficiaries without the involvement of middlemen, and the chief minister warned that any irregularities would result in the Block Development Officer being held responsible and facing legal consequences.

Policy Announcements: During the gathering, the Chief Minister announced a policy shift in the electricity sector, declaring that consumers would now receive free power up to 125 units, an increase from the previous 100-unit limit. He also pledged to enhance the irrigation system in the Kolhan region, planning to implement a network of canals in the areas.

Political Accusations and Statements: The political undertones of the event were further amplified by statements from Congress legislator Banna Gupta and Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi, both of whom shared the stage with the chief minister. Gupta claimed that former CM Hemant Soren’s incarceration was a result of a conspiracy by the NDA government at the Centre. In a more severe allegation, MLA Mangal Kalindi accused the central government of sending Hemant Soren to exploit Jharkhand’s mineral resources.

Felicitations and Corporate Support: Representatives from various organizations and corporate houses, including Tata Steel, felicitated Chief Minister Champai Soren during the event.

The Abua Awas Yojna certificate distribution ceremony turned into a platform for political assertions and accusations, showcasing the charged political atmosphere in the region. The chief minister used the occasion not only to disburse funds but also to make policy announcements and express his political stance.
