Ranchi, April 2: Questions asked under the Right to Information (RTI) Act have revealed that after withdrawing the concessions given to senior citizens in train fares, Indian Railways has collected an additional amount of more than Rs 5800 crore from senior citizens.
Jharkhand government is attacking the BJP government at the Center regarding this.
Chief Minister Champai Soren has made a tweet. In which he has told that on one hand the Central Government is earning revenue from the elderly by snatching their rights and on the other hand the Jharkhand Government is respectfully connecting the elderly here with the Sarvajan Pension Scheme. He said this by saying that the difference is clearly visible.
CM Champai wrote in his tweet, “Today the news was received that Railways has got a profit of Rs 5,800 crore by withdrawing the discount from elderly passengers. On the other hand, our Jharkhand government has provided pension support to more than 36 lakh elderly passengers. Despite the drag, our government came up with the Sarvajan Pension Scheme, and every needy person was benefited from it.”
“ Our government has reduced the pension age limit to 50 for all women and SC/ST men, so that they So that they can also live a respectable life, who are helpless due to advancing age. At the last stage of their life, these elders need our support, respect and cooperation. Their prayers will make the family and the state better,” Champai Soren added in X handle.
