Jharkhand Cabinet nod for new liquor policy, health insurance for elderly

Ranchi, May 15: Hemant Soren led Jharkhand cabinet gave nod for the new liquor policy while allowing health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh for elderly (above 70 years).

The cabinet meeting held on Thursday approved 17 proposals.

The excise liquor policy has been approved in the meeting. The new policy will be implemented in one month. Apart from this, retail sales will now be in private hands. At the same time, the responsibility of wholesale will remain in the hands of the state government (JSBCL).

There are a total of 1453 shops in the state. Allotment of all shops will be done through lottery.

In the cabinet meeting, a proposal to link people above 70 years of age with the Chief Minister Ayushman Yojana was also agreed upon which will enable them to health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh.

Apart from this, a consensus was also reached on increasing the daily allowance of NCC cadets from Rs 150 to Rs 210 per day.

Jharkhand cabinet secretary Vandana Dadel later told reporters that the service conditions manual for the appointment of secondary teachers, principals and employees of the Jharkhand government was approved.

Apart from this, the proposal to increase the food allowance for the camps of NCC cadets was also approved. She said that at present, every cadet gets food allowance at the rate of Rs 150 per day in the NCC cadets camp. It has now been increased to Rs 220 per day.

Other major decisions taken at the meeting are as follows:

  • A total amount of Rs 76 crore was allocated for the Madhupur Urban Water Supply Scheme.
  • An amount of Rs 10 crore was allocated under the World Bank-supported Jharkhand Municipal Development Project.
  • Approval was given to regularize the service of retired clerks and provide them with the estimated financial benefits.
  • The duration of air service on the basis of nomination for the government program Udaan was extended.
  • An amount of Rs 55 crore was approved for the construction work of Barkitand-Teenpalli-Dokidih-Girnia Mor road of Giridih.
  • Approval was given to the proposal for maintenance of lift of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College of Hazaribagh, Phoolo-Jhano Medical College of Dumka and Medinirai Medical College of Palamu.
  • Factory Amendment Bill was approved.
  • Approval was given to extend the duration of distribution agency under supplementary nutrition.
  • New Jail Manual was approved.
  • Fee has also been fixed for vocational education course.
