Ranchi, Sep 5 : The state government today decided to ban plastic in Jharkhand. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister
Raghubar Das at the project building here. An official communiqu� said the government has decided to put a complete ban on manufacturing, import, storage, transportation, storage and use of plastic in Jharkhand.
At the meeting, it was decided that the plastic containers used for carrying food items, milk and milk products packagingand plants of the nursery would not be considered as
plastic carry bag and those violating the norms would be punished under section 15 of
Environment Protection Act1986. In another key decision, the state government has also decided to increase the compensation in case of death or damage caused to house, crop and domestic animals bywild animals.
It has been decided that in case of death, a compensation sum of Rs 4 lakh would be paid while for the seriously injured Rs 1 lakh would be given. In case of minor injuries Rs 15,000 would be paid. In case of seriously damaged pucca homes Rs 40,000 would
be given as compensation while for Kuccha homes Rs 20,000 would be paid. For houses suffering with minor damage Rs 10,000 would be awarded as compensation while for crop damage the compensation would range from Rs 1,600 to Rs 8,000 per quintal.
It was also decided that for the death of cow, buffaloes, ox a compensation of Rs 30,000 would be paid while form smaller animals including goat and sheep Rs 5000 would be awarded. The cabinet also decided that for crop damage the compensation would range from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 per hectare.
The cabinet also decided that a sum of Rs 5 crore each to be provided to Bihar and Assam for flood relief measures would be made from the state’s contingency fund.
