Jharkhand budget to be tabled today, focus on rural development, health, education 

Ranchi, March  2: Jharkhand finance minister Radha Krishna Kishore will present the budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday.

According to estimates, this time the size of the budget may increase by 7 to 10 percent, due to which its total size is likely to reach about one and a half lakh crore rupees.

Based on the size of the budget of the last five years, an increase has been recorded every year. In the year 2024-25, the budget of Jharkhand was Rs 1,28,900 crore, while this year it can be increased and made even more comprehensive.

This time the government is paying special attention to rural development, health, and education.

Women and Child Development will get more funds keeping in mind the new schemes and needs, more funds can be allocated for the Department of Women and Child Development in the upcoming budget. Especially due to ‘Maiyaan Samman Yojana’, this department is likely to get additional funds.

The state’s gross domestic product (GSDP) was only Rs 32,000 crore in the year 2001, which has now increased to more than Rs 4.70 lakh crore. It is estimated to grow by 9.5 to 10 percent in the coming financial year.

The Jharkhand government has invested heavily in the health and education sector in the last few years:

The health budget increased from Rs 169.09 crore to Rs 7,223 crore.

The education budget increased from Rs 915.36 crore to Rs 14,725 crore.

The government’s goal is to make Jharkhand more empowered. For this  there will be an emphasis on providing health and education facilities to every citizen, the rural economy will be strengthened and focus will be on basic needs like agriculture, animal husbandry, drinking water.

Budget size in the last five years are as follow– 2020-21: Rs 86,370 crore,  2021-22: Rs 91,277 crore, 2022-23: Rs 1,01,101 crore, 2023-24: Rs 1,16,418 crore and 2024-25: Rs 1,28,900 crore.

Whether this year’s budget will give further impetus to Jharkhand’s economy or not, it will be clear only after the upcoming announcements, but the indications so far are pointing towards a big and development-oriented budget.
