Jharkhand boy Rahul Pandit falters in round 1 of Beldih Club AITA Men’s Tennis

Jamshedpur, Nov. 18 : Lucky loser Rahul Pandit of Jharkhand falters and goes down against Odisha’s Anurag Kumar Saran in the opening rounds of the Men’s Singles event at the ongoing Beldih Club AITA Men’s 1 Lac National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2019, been held at the clay courts of Beldih Club and United Club.

Pandit failed to impress the local support as he plays inconsistent and allows his opponent, Anurag Kumar Saran to book a spot in the pre quarter finals of the 1 lac championship by a 6-1,6-1 victory on Monday.

Finalist of the Men’s 50K AITA championship at Beldih Club in 2017, Abhinansu Borthakur of Bengal had an easy day against Karnataka’s 16-year old Dev Sinha as the former wins by a dominating 6-1,6-0.

In other matches of Men’s Open Singles Round 1 Asish S Sinha (MP) beat Nishith Naveen (KA) 7-6(7),6-1. Kanav Goel (WB) beat Sarthak Deoras (CG) 6-1,0-6,6-1. Raj Jitendra Bagdai (TS) beat Rohan Tainwala (MH) 6-2,6-1. Himanshu Maurya (CG) beat Justin Penmei (OD) 6-0,6-1. Md Fardeen (WB) beat Rahul Behera (OD) 6-1,6-1.

Neel Garud (MP) beat Siriah Tanmay Praveen (MH) 6-1,6-1.

A former Davis Cupper and the top seed of the tournament, V M Ranjeet will be seen in action tomorrow against qualifier Asish S Sinha. Matches will start from 8:30 am tomorrow.
