Jamshedpur, March 16: The Jharkhand Basketball teams are set to compete in the U-23 National Basketball Championship, scheduled from March 18 to 24 in Guwahati, Assam. Following an intensive 10-day training camp, the final squads for both the men’s and women’s teams have been selected to represent the state at the prestigious national event.
Under the expert guidance of India team coach and Jharkhand Basketball Association Secretary JP Singh, the training camp focused on skill development and teamwork. After thorough evaluation, 12 players were selected for each team.
The men’s team includes Shoaib Khan, Abhas Panwar (Captain), Raj Vardhan, Sushant Kumar, Aditya Kumar Mahato, Anurag Pandey, Shourya Oroan, Tanish, Satyendra Dalal, Nand Lal Tiwari, Md Abdullah, and Anukul Tuti.
The women’s team features Priya Kumari, Anu Oraon (Captain), Sarika Kujur, Nimisha Oraon, Shivani Kumari, Jaya Kumari, Simmi Kumari, Akansha Lakra, Tiny Lall, Sukriti Jaiswal, Arpita Shukla, and Rishika Lama.
Coaching responsibilities for the men’s team will be handled by Coach Md. Arif Aftab, with Kinker Krishna as the team manager. The women’s team will be led by Coach Nizam Ali and Manager Adarsh.
The teams departed from Tatanagar Station on the morning of March 16, marking the beginning of their journey to Guwahati. Jharkhand Basketball Association President Harbhajan Singh and Secretary JP Singh extended their best wishes to the players, expressing confidence in their ability to perform well on the national stage.
With high hopes for a strong showing, the Jharkhand teams are ready to make their mark at the U-23 National Championship, aiming for a successful and memorable campaign.
