Chaibasa, April 24: The ‘Kolhan bandh’ called by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in protest against the state government’s Domicile Policy as well as to oppose the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jamshedpur on Sunday to attend the concluding function of the “Gramoday se Bharat Uday Abhiyan” was partially successful in West Singhbhum district.

The Chaibasa town wore a completely deserted look during the day, but markets opened in the latter half of the day. On the other hand, the bandh call did not have any impact in areas like Badajamda, Noamundi, Kiriburu and Gua, which is the iron ore mining belt of the state.

The buses were seen plying on roads and the markets were remained opened throughout the day in these places. The police force was deployed in large numbers to evade any untoward incident.

So far there is no report of any damage to life and property. All the JMM MLAs from West Singhbhum were taken into police custody on Saturday as a preventive measure.
