Ranchi, May 5: Jharkhand has received seven investment proposals within a week of an official delegation’s return from Spain and Sweden, said Industries Secretary Arava Rajkamal during a press briefing at the Suchna Bhawan. The delegation, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, had visited the two European nations to invite foreign investors to explore opportunities in Jharkhand.

“This was the first official foreign visit by a Jharkhand government delegation in nearly nine years. The visit has not only yielded significant investment proposals but has also enhanced Jharkhand’s brand visibility on a global scale,” Rajkamal stated.

One major highlight includes Tesla Group S Chairman Dusan Lichardus showing interest in setting up a battery storage manufacturing unit in Jharkhand with an estimated investment of €150 million. A similar factory is currently under development by the group in Romania.

The government has also received a proposal from RCD Espanyol Football Club to train football coaches in Jharkhand under a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Additionally, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was submitted for the development of a mega convention and trade exhibition centre in Ranchi, involving an investment of €120–170 million.

The delegation visited key landmarks including the under-construction FC Barcelona stadium and museum. “CM Hemant Soren has directed that old mining sites in Chaibasa be developed into geological museums to attract tourism, inspired by Spain’s D Gava Museum,” Rajkamal added.

In Sweden, over 50 global investors were briefed about Jharkhand’s opportunities in manufacturing, electric vehicles, mineral exploration and clean energy. The CM also visited the Volvo truck plant in Gothenburg and extended an invitation to Volvo to set up a major manufacturing unit in Jharkhand.

“The visit has significantly boosted Jharkhand’s visibility in Spain and Sweden and is expected to result in long-term partnerships,” Rajkamal concluded.
