Ranchi: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has released the much-awaited exam calendar for 2025. The matriculation and intermediate exams will begin simultaneously, with exams for Class VIII and IX set for later this month, and the Class XI exams scheduled for March.
This year, the number of students appearing for the matriculation and intermediate exams has seen a significant increase. The total number of candidates has risen by 17,475 compared to last year. In 2024, 4,21,678 candidates had registered for the matriculation exam and 3,44,842 for the intermediate exams. For 2025, the numbers have increased to 4,33,886 and 3,49,825, respectively.
The board exams for matriculation and intermediate students will take place from February 11 to March 3, 2025. JAC has also released model question papers for both the matriculation and intermediate exams, which will include 30 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark.
Class VIII and IX board exams will be held in January. The Class VIII exam will be conducted on January 28, while the Class IX exam will take place on January 29 and 30. This year, 5,18,002 candidates have registered for the Class VIII exam, and 4,77,096 candidates for the Class IX exam.
In addition to the matriculation and intermediate exams, the Class XI board exams will be held from March 6 to March 8. A total of 4,05,687 candidates have registered for the Class XI exams. Meanwhile, the inter-vocational exams will be conducted from March 5 to 25, with 500 candidates registered.
Minister Yogendra Prasad emphasized the importance of adhering to the exam schedule and ensuring smooth conduct, stating, “We are committed to providing a fair and timely examination process for all students in the state.”
Furthermore, the Akanksha entrance exam, for admission to the state’s free coaching institute, will be held on March 9. A total of 44,033 candidates have applied for this exam. Additionally, 5,000 students have registered for the National Means cum Merit Examination, scheduled for March 16.
JAC has also introduced internal assessments for all exams, with 20 marks allocated for internal evaluation, which will be conducted at the school and college levels. Students are advised to check the model question papers available on the JAC website for further guidance.
The Jharkhand Education Department has also initiated the process for the recognition of schools that have been operating without recognition. Schools interested in applying for recognition under the Right to Education (RTE) Act must submit their applications by January 15.
In another key development, the Directorate of Secondary Education has allocated Rs 234 crore for the salary of high school teachers in the state. District Education Officers have been issued necessary guidelines regarding the distribution of funds.
