JH Tarapore students clinch 4 gold including 12 medals at Zonal Athletic meet


Jamshedpur, August 29: JH Tarapore School students won 4 gold including 12 medals at the recently concluded ASISC Zonal Athletics Meet held at JRD Tata Sports Complex on 19 and 20 August.

Four students of the school clinched gold, 3 won silver while 5 students won the bronze medal. Of the total 12 medal winners, 7 students who won the gold and silver have qualified for the ASISC Regional Athletics Meet which is going to be held in October.

The students who achieved success include- T. Preety, she won the gold medal in the 800m event. Bushra Anis – 400m ––Gold, Rachna Patel – Javelin Throw – Gold, Shubham Parhawk – 110m Hurdles – Gold, Ayush Gour – 400m – Silver, D.Prateek – Long Jump – Silver, Vijaya Bharti – Discus Throw –Silver, T.Preety – 400m – Bronze, Soubhagya Das – Shot Put – Bronze, Bushra Anis – 200m – Bronze, D.Prateek – 110m Hurdles – Bronze and Shubham Parhawk – Triple Jump – Bronze.

Principal of the school congratulated the medal winners and wished them luck for the regional meet. She said, ’20 students of J.H.Tarapore School participated in the meet. The students were really very enthusiastic for the meet and were eager to show their talents on the Race track.

The pressure was equally distributed among the coach and the students. They started to work hard as the meet was approaching and their hard work resulted in achieving 12 medals’.

Significantly, 24 schools participated among which 5 schools sponsored this event to make it a success. On the other hand, the students of J.H.Tarapore School have also done well in the ASISC Zonal Basketball Tournament, in which 5 students have been selected for the Regional Tournament.

The students- Vijaya Bharti, Al Shifa Shakil, Sana Kausar, Swarnali Chakraborty and Twinkle have qualified for the regional meet. Another student of the school, Shalini Maurya has won the Junior Girls Singles match in the ASISC Badminton Tournament and has confirmed her place in the Regional Tournament.
