Jamshedpur, Sep 1: Telco police arrested one jeweler, identified as Sanjeev Dutta, from Chhayanagar late Tuesday night for allegedly purchasing stolen ornaments. They have however not been able to recover the stolen ornaments.
Devi Dutta, wife of Sanjeev Dutta, alleged that her husband was taken into custody late night and was told he was being taken to Sidhgora police station. Next day, Sanjeev called his family from Telco PS and said he was in police custody. He said police had beaten him up severely and accused him of having received stolen ornaments.
Devi said police had demanded Rs 4 lakh to release her husband.
