Jeevan organises World Suicide Prevention day

Jamshedpur, Sept 11:  A program in continuation of the World Suicide Prevention Day was organized at Narbheram Hansraj English School, Bistupur on World Suicide Prohibition Day on behalf of Jeevan working in the field of suicide prevention.

The program was inaugurated jointly by chief guest PS Reddy and special guests Dr Deepak Kumar Giri, Hari Singh Rajput, Founder-Director Dr M Ram and Director Dr JR Jain.

Chief Guest PS Reddy explained in detail about the services rendered by Jeevan, an organization dedicated towards eradicating depression and suicidal tendencies. He stressed and urged citizens to cooperate in making Jamshedpur a ‘Zero Suicide City.’

Hari Singh Rajput observed that teenagers were among the sensitive group of people who suffered from depression and suggested ways to deal with such problems. Rajput stated that awareness against depression and suicidal tendencies could be dealt with psychiatric suggestions.

Noted psychiatrist and keynote speaker, Dr Deepak Kumar Giri, in his observation stated, “Certain important steps should be taken to offload depression and other mental conditions. Such persons who are weighed down by negative thoughts, worries and depression should narrate their problems to colleagues, friends and classmates. Their suggestions will ease them back to life and living. Life should be enjoyed and the mental strain and depression will slowly but steadily fade away.”

A march was taken out for making people aware of the roots and curative processes for depression. Sixty ladies of various women’s organization were present along with other members of the audience. Prizes were distributed among winners of various contests organized by Jeevan. The judges were felicitated on the occasion. For exemplary services, M Durga Rao and Gurpreet Bhatia, Deputy Directors of Jeevan were honoured for their exemplary services as they served to ease mental problems of people by putting in 15 hours of daily service for more than 20 months without any break.

 Jeevan volunteers NC Das, Tarashankar Mukherjee, Rajiv Ranjan, Sumant Kanwar, Anand Vishwakarma and others were presented Long Service Awards.
