Jamshedpur: Junior engineer of the road construction department KK Singh visited Matigora panchayat under Mosabani block of East Singhbhum on Friday and began an inspection-cum-inquiry in connection with the allegations of corruption against the agency constructing the road. The JE inspected the road at various places across the stretch and dug out the construction materials used in building it. He said the villagers of Matigora had recently alleged that sub-standard construction materials are being used in the road project.
The road is being built in the deeply-wooded Matigora panchayat under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The JE issued several instructions to the officials of the contracting agency, Pushpanjali Construction, Hazaribagh, in order to ensure quality construction work. The road construction started in 2009. It got disrupted for some time and started again this year. Local villagers have accused the contracting agency of numerous irregularities in the project.
