Ranchi: The Jharkhand Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (JBVNL) has recently submitted a new electricity tariff petition for the financial year 2024-25, revealing the Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) and Revenue Gap without specifying the proposed increase in each category. The petition, filed before the Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission, indicates a revenue gap of approximately Rs 2500 crore, with JBVNL stating a need of Rs 10800 crore for its expenses.
While the exact percentage of the proposed tariff hike remains undisclosed, sources suggest a potential 25 percent increase to offset the Rs 10800 crore requirement. The tariff proposal specifics for different consumer categories are expected to be presented within the next one to two months.
The final decision on the new electricity tariff will rest with the Electricity Regulatory Commission, which will assess and potentially approve the proposed tariff adjustments. Following approval, JBVNL will outline the recommended rate increases for various consumer categories. A public hearing will be conducted by the Commission before a conclusive decision is reached, and the entire process is anticipated to take up to five months.
