Jan Kalyan Samiti to provide free puja materials to 1001 Chhath devotees

Jamshedpur, Nov. 3: With Chhath festival starting from Friday, November 4, Jan kalyan Samiti has decided to distribute free winnowing basket (a shaped basket shaken to raise the chaff) along with fruits to 1001 devotees who observe and carry out the fast with full dedication at Hari Maidan in Baridih Basti on Saturday, November 5.

Devotees will be provided different varieties of fruits along with all the materials which are needed to perform the Chhath festival. A camp will be put up by the Samiti at Durga Path near Hari Mandir on Saturday morning. The winnowing basket will be provided on ‘first-come, first-serve basis.

Convener of the Samiti, Bablu Jha, President PN Jha and members Anand Bihari Dubey on Thursday addressed a joint press conference, saying, this types of programmes are possible only through mutual support. They further said, on the day Usha Arghya (morning offerings) on Monday, devotees who observe fast will be provided milk, tea, snacks, incense sticks and other necessary items.

The devotees will be asked to pray for the well being of the soldiers who are at the borders fighting for the country.

Samiti members said that the devotees will be provided free auto service to bring them from homes to ghats along with first aid, ambulance, divers and special arrangement for cleanliness. The Samiti has been providing facilities to the devotees during Chhath for the last 11 years.
