Jam@Street returns with new zeal, fun and fanfare mark Sunday 

Jamshedpur, Nov 28: After a break of three years, Jam@Streets was back with action. From badminton court, roll ball, basketball, boxing, bicycle stunt and table tennis, people enjoyed, bhangra performance, talent shows and dancing. About 5000 people gathered for the new edition of Jam@streets today.

There were paintings exhibited by Jamshedpur artists while dancers performed to entertain the mass. Many children tried their hand in pottery too. Various hotels had put up their food stalls at the festival.

” We are very excited to be a part of the festival. The crowd appreciated us and we loved every moment of it.  There were children and mothers specially insisted to click pictures with the huge masks,” said an artiste. The artistes also came with dhol, a nagada and a mahuri telling people about Jharkhand’s own culture.

The usual busy Bistupur Main Road wore a festive look as people from different walks of life participated in it.

Jam@Streets day is akin to a street festival with goodies which can be indulged in by the whole family. Seeing the involvement of the community in the festival, newer attractions have been added like more entertaining items and games,  Trampoline ,Tattoo corner, wall climbing , Chhau mask making, tribal painting.

Together with games, there were rock bands belching Bollywood songs adding to the Sunday euphoria . There were food stalls offering a variety of morning delights including sandwiches, cakes, pastry, green smoothies, etc.

Moreover, tea, puri bhaji, pastries, sandwiches, dosa, dhokla, everything was available in the food corner set up and managed by the Jamshedpur Hotels. There were also artists who painted in the festival. There was a talent hunt show, zumba, dance, bicycle stunts practiced individually by youngsters, basketball, boxing and badminton.

It had sporting events like Roller skating, Badminton, Basketball,

Boxing, Handball, Karate, Adventure games and much more. Together with

games, there were rock bands adding to the Sunday euphoria with selfie

corner, street painting, magic show, dandiya and other activities for

the whole family.

And to top it all, there were food stalls offering a variety of

morning delights including dosas, golgappas, upma, idli, samosa,

kachori sabzee, health drinks and fruits, sandwiches, cakes, pastry

and green smoothies.

Similar street festivals are held at different cities in India under

different names like Raahgiri at Delhi and Bhubaneshwar, Happy Street

at Kolkata and similar initiatives are being undertaken at other

cities also. It is to the credit of the people of Jamshedpur that

their active participation has made Jam@Streets a much looked forward

to event for the young and the not so young.
