Jamshedpur’s vegetable vendor being hotly sought by police for demanding Rs 5 crore from Salman Khan

Jamshedpur: Mumbai Police are on the lookout for Sheikh Hossain, a resident of Azadnagar Gaura Chowk in Mango, Jamshedpur, in connection with an extortion demand of ₹5 crore from Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Hossain, who is absconding, allegedly threatened Khan over the phone and had earlier issued similar threats to politician Baba Siddiqui.

Sheikh Hossain, originally from Baghmundi, West Bengal, used to sell vegetables in Sakchi, Jamshedpur, before he went into hiding about a year ago. According to sources, he sent a threatening message to Salman Khan, which has now put him under the radar of Mumbai Police. After the case escalated, Hossain reportedly sent a message to the police admitting that the extortion demand was a mistake.

Mumbai Police are conducting an investigation based on the mobile number used to send the threatening message to Khan. Hossain has since switched off his phone and is attempting to evade capture by frequently changing locations and using internet calls to communicate.

Police have conducted multiple raids in West Bengal, including in Hossain’s hometown of Baghmundi, but he remains at large. Authorities are continuing their efforts to track down Hossain as the investigation progresses.
