Jamshedpur’s Varun Raisurana to debut at National Ranking Tennis tournament today

Beldih Club AITA Men’s tennis championship begins today

Jamshedpur, Nov. 12: Local lad Varun Raisurana makes his debut at the National Ranking charts by winning a marathon match at the ongoing Beldih Club AITA Men’s National Ranking 50K Tennis Championship 2017, been held at the clay courts of the Beldih Club as well as United Club in Jamshedpur.

Umang Jhunjhunwala of Gujarat, currently training in Jamshedpur has made it to the Main Draw, defeating Aakash Patil of Chhattisgarh 6-1,3-6,6-3.

Other qualifiers identified today are Arghya Das, Arpit Sharma, Abhinav Kumar, Roshan Kumar, Md Arham Siddiqui and Devasish Sood.

Kanhaiya Kumar of Jharkhand has already booked a place in Main Draw as a Direct Acceptance.

The qualifiers concluded on Sunday as eight players of the 20 participants booked their seats for the main draw.

The inauguration ceremony of the championship will be held at 8am on Monday, 13 November 2017 at the tennis courts of the Beldih Club.

On day one of the championship on November 13 ten matches will be played at the courts of Beldih and United Club.

The Men’s single round will begin at Beldih Club with Kishan Kumar taking on Preston Vaz in round 1.

Aakash Patil will be up against Arpit Sharma, Devashish Sood Vs Neeraj Choudhary, Rishabh Shah Vs Varun Raisurana, Umar Shaikh Vs Sarthak Deoras and Vivek Sinha Vs Roshan Kumar at the Beldih Club.

Four matches have been lined up at the United Club starting at 9 am with Vishwajeet Anand taking on Vashu Gupta, Kanhaiya Kumar Vs Ayush Mintri, Md. Arham Siddiqui will face Hemant Kumar followed by Abhinav Kumar Vs Umang Jhunjhunwala.
