Jamshedpur, June 15: City para shuttler Umesh Vikram Kumar, an employee of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services, is set to represent India in the upcoming Asian Para Badminton Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. Competing in the SL-3 category, Umesh will aim for medals in both singles and doubles events.
Currently ranked world number one, he will partner with Delhi’s Suryakant in the doubles category. Ahead of his departure, Umesh is undergoing intensive training under coach Vivek Kumar at the Tata Steel Badminton Training Centre in JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Umesh has delivered a series of impressive performances in recent tournaments. Tata Steel Sports Chief Mukul Vinayak Choudhari extended his best wishes and congratulated him on this significant opportunity to showcase his talent on the international stage.
