Jamshedpur, April 15: In this trying time of COVID-19, Tata Steel is committed to serving the local communities in its operational areas in the states of Jharkhand and Odisha.
TMH Jamshedpur is prepared with over 600 isolation beds and over 80 ICU beds with ventilation support, a COVID-19 Screening Room and a special COVID-19 Maternity and Labour Room Complex for COVID-19 suspect/confirmed pregnant women. The entire old wing at TMH is being converted into a Corona Wing for addressing the needs of COVID-19 patients.
Tata Steel through Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) has served over 7.5 lakh meals in 183 settlements of Jamshedpur and around 7000 meals in its other operational areas in Jharkhand and Odisha. Dry ration and hygiene packet have been distributed to 1600 families in Kolhan region and the target is to reach out to 30,000 families.
45,000 masks have been made and distributed to all Sahiyaas of Kolhan region, police officers in lockdown duty and other vulnerable communities in Jamshedpur. 184 people are associated with mask making having an earning potential of Rs 1500 per person.
Under the �Cash for Work� programme, TSF has been able to provide income to 1500 people associated with Kitchen gardens, wall paintings and paper bag making. The target is to empower 3000 people through this programme.
Under the �From the Farm� programme, 511 orders have been processed and 5 tons of fresh vegetables have been sold in Jamshedpur.70 farmers are associated with this programme.
Further, 1850 people have been reached out in 10 cities through 171 volunteers through the �FarRishta� programme.
